If Your Caregiver Gets Frustrated, It Doesn't Mean You Are A Burden
If your caregiver gets frustrated with you, it doesn’t mean you are a burden.
Having a chronic condition usually means relying on people for a lot.
For caregivers it means taking on a role you never expected or prepared for.
It’s insanely difficult for everyone. There’s no manual on how to do this.
Remember, we all get frustrated and we all have hard days.
Caregivers and patients both get mad at the illness. They both wish it could be different or easier.
They lash out. They hit their limit. They get compassion fatigue.
It’s not you. It’s the situation. It’s that gnawing feeling of wishing they could fix it and make it all go away.
If your caregiver gets tired, know this: You are not the burden.
Illness is just so frustrating. It can be life altering.
At the end of the day, you all want the same thing: health and stability.
Some days you’re just not as good at articulating that.
Tomorrow you’ll try again.
